Old Lady win Derby d’Italia 2-0; player ratings

Adrien Rabiot and Nicolo Fagioli helped Juventus beat Inter 2-0 on Sunday.
The Old Lady was behind Inter in the Serie A standings and plagued by inconsistency. Therefore, three points were crucial to moving them up to fifth.

After 20 minutes, Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Juve’s Gleison Bremer came close. Juve kept creating chances, but couldn’t score before halftime.
After halftime, Juve sat back and countered, which helped them pull ahead and threaten. Inter didn’t do enough with the ball in the second half, squandering a late goal chance.

The Derby d’Italia consume the ground..However,¬†with a lack of quality in front of goal and passing. Inter missed the most obvious scoring opportunities in the second half.

Lautaro Martinez missed after five minutes, and Inter finished the first half,  strong after surviving a Juventus flurry. Nicolo Barella tried to score from Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s pass after 42 minutes, but Denzel Dumfries blocked his shot to end the half scoreless.

After the break, the hosts scored in just seven minutes, as Inter tried to press. Rabiot scored after Kostic’s left-wing cross and open foot.  Danilo converted Kostic’s corner to put Inter 2-0 down after an hour. VAR ruled the goal for handball, sparing their blushes.

Andre Onana tipped Kostic’s late shot onto the post. A save like that should have spurred Simone Inzaghi’s side to find the equalizer, but they were already 2-0 down when Fagioli scored on his first Serie A start.
