Unai Emery has discussed his decision to join Aston Villa in the Premier League after his previous stint with Arsenal failedin failure. In 2018, the Spaniard was named Arsene Wenger’s replacement at the Emirates Stadium. He had success with Sevilla before having a rocky time with Paris Saint-Germain.
In his first season, the Gunners came close to making the top four and fell to rival Chelsea in the Europa League final. However, a shaky start to the 2019–20 season led to Emery’s dismissal and the hiring of Mikel Arteta as his replacement.
The next season, Emery joined Villarreal and defeated Arsenal en route to his fourth Europa League victory, leading the Yellow Submarine to their first-ever major title.
